Educated Advocates; an energized and animated hip-hop trio from the state of Maine have emerged with a style that has been described as "new vintage". This sound is a mixture of innovative rhymes, vocal arrangements and golden era production styles. With the majority of beats, recording, and scratches handled by the group themselves, they have formulated a trademark sound reminiscent of the classic era of hip-hop in aspects, with a fresh perspective.

Hailing from NYC, music has been an obsession for Lucid ever since buying his first cassette tape and walkman in back in '91. Poi with Marita Kennedy

Come learn the art of Poi with Marita Kennedy-Castro. Poi originated with the Maori tribe of New Zealand & is known locally as Fire Dancing or "Streamer Dancing" (without fire). You will have the opportunity to learn streamer dancing and later watch a performance with fire.

Marita has been dancing since she first learned to walk and being inspired by the fluid movements of nature, dancing with fire has been a natural addition for her. She offers workshops and performances in both fire/streamer dancing and West African dance, and teaches a weekly W. African inspired dance class at 614 Congress St. in Portland. She enjoys teaching folks of all ages!

 

Hula Hooping with Diane Kibbin 2-3pm

Diane Kibbin is an (AFAA) certified personal trainer who began teaching hula hoop dance in 2009. She has learned skills from some of the best instructora in the US and Canada while she attended Hoop Convergence 2010. If you are looking for a fun way to work out while inproving coordination and creativity, you will not want to miss this class.
